Did I think I'd end up working for a local news station, market size 31? No, not at all. I got the gig at NBC 4 a month out of college--hired as a weekend editor.

I moved into a videographer/editor spot about 2 months later. I knew it would look great on my resume and help me towards my career aspirations of working for ESPN. I caught the news bug quickly and truly enjoyed the work for the first few years. I love, love, love spot/breaking news.
That's what gets the adrenaline going. I quickly began to hate, hate, hate operating live trucks. I was a videographer for 4 1/2 years--wow, way longer than I had planned. And my ESPN dreams quickly changed when I started shooting sports. Holding a 20+ lb. camera on your shoulder while sitting cross-legged for the entire length of a college basketball game is painful! (I am 5 ft tall, 108lbs. I like to think I'm strong - hey, I carried all that camera equiptment around for over 4 years - but I'm not that strong.)
I've moved to the news desk and am now the morning/dayside Assignment Editor. I listen to 10 of these
for 10+ hours a day and manage field crews, among many other tasks. Do I miss shooting? Yes and no. I don't miss many things about it, but I greatly miss chasing storms, chasing breaking news/being on spot news scenes, and shooting Football Friday Night (I am passionate about my football).
The News Desk is a new challenge for me, but I am actively seeking a new career in PR/Media Relations. I didn't just put myself $20K in debt for grad school to stay where I am. The local news business continues to downsize and job stability has gone out the window. And I have reached a point in my life that I would prefer to join the normal working Americans, 9-5:30, M-F, with holidays off.
I've decided to start a personal blog. I am online constantly & join in on various other forms of social media, but haven't quite found the time to blog. Now that grad school is done, I'm going to start. So, for my initial blog, I am just going to give a brief description of my world. I've been married since October of 2005.
My husband and I recently purchased a home in Clintonville. We are absolutely loving home ownership (but grit our teeth at the occasional uh-oh expenses). Clintonville is likely the perfect first home buyer neighborhood. We are close to everything, but it still feels like the 'burbs.
We've got a few adorble pets that keep us company until the day we decide to have children. This is Bobbie, a Jack Russel & Rat or Fox Terrier mix (a mutt).
Samson & Delila are brother & sister. My parents have their mom, who is named Momma.

Chris and I enjoy spending time at home, watching movies, church, and being with family and friends. We are very blessed and truly appreciate all that we have. Separately, Chris is a huge music buff and a crazy, psychotic OSU fan. I am a sane OSU fan and enjoy anything athletic. I know, we're exciting people, right? You're so jealous.
